If I’m a little behind on my reading, and blogging, it’s only because I have been so busy writing. I have committed to finishing my novel by the end of the year (or atleast having some semblance of a finished manuscript by then.) There comes a time when it just needs to be done. Now is that time for me. (And yes, I realize, if I am ever lucky enough to have an editor for this manuscript, that there are many definitions of the word “done”.)
It’s a different experience, being close to the end of a novel. I’ve read about writers getting lost in their own stories as they finish writing. I’m finding that now too. Part of me exists in the alternate world I’ve created. I drive by the real-life block where I picture my protagonist living – and I expect to see him walking down the street. If I don’t seem all there, please forgive me. It’ s just that part of me is in another place, having imaginary conversations with people I’ve made up.
Louise Penny’s books just keep getting better and better.
Howard Shrier will make you laugh, all while keeping you up way too late to find out what happens.
And always, always Giles Blunt. If I could ask Santa for something, it would be the next installment in the John Cardinal series.
Happy holidays!
